Openness
When you are open to the world, you are energized. We all have an energy within. Utilizing it is our choice. Being open and allowing a flow of energy is a choice. Closing yourself, and your heart, is a choice. But it doesn’t protect in the way we think it might. Rather, it cuts us off from our own energy which only isolates us further.
How we react is on us. We can hurt, wallow, be negative, and close ourselves off. Or we can hurt, learn, grow, and be open.
This is one of my favourite quotes from the Lovesick, a poignant British comedy series about single life in your 20s:
“Don’t hang around for someone who doesn’t really sort of urgently want to be with you. You might miss out on all the good stuff.”
“Good stuff” can refer to anything. Don’t close yourself off and you won’t miss out.
This is one of the most important lessons I’ve learned so far.
